There has been the Oddest gun thread, the Oldest gun thread, COUNTLESS caliber and Steel VS Tupperware threads.
My question is how many rounds do you leave the house with on your average day?
I carry a Para p12 and an AMT 45. Both are condition 1. That means 10+1 in the EDC, 10 in the spare mag and then 5+1 in the BUG with an extra mag there for a total of 32. The Para has 230 GR Hydra Shoks and the AMT has 185 HS alternated with FMJ.
G-19 = 16 or G-23 = 14 and if I carry the Diamondback BUG add 6. You guys make me feel so under ammoed (is ammoed a word ?). Does the Rem 870 in the trunk count ? If so add 12 rounds 00 buck. :image035:
For me it's 19 rounds of BB .380 for my Sig P238 BUG and 15 rounds of .45 FMJ's for my Kimber Ultra. If I go toes up for lack of rounds, chances are good that the big guy wanted me to come home.:hand5:
At least 15; more, depending on the gun. If it's the snubby, the basic 5 plus a speed strip and a speedloader are the normal complement. Any of the auto loaders I carry with any frequency has at least 7+ 1, then add at least one spare mag.
With my Sig P228, I usually leave with 15 in the mag. I may or may not take a spare, just depends. Now that I have the M&P .357c, I'll carry the 10 in it with a 15 round spare with an X-grip sleeve on it.
Most of the time my off-duty carry is a G27 with one spare 23 mag. 9+1 in the 27 and 13 in the spare mag give me 23 rounds. On rare ocassions I carry two spare mags giving me 36. When I carry my G30, it is 9+1 and a spare 21 mag of 13 rounds again giving me 23 rounds. When I carry my 19, it is 15+1 and a spare 17 mag with 17 rounds giving me 33 rounds.
Depending on my carry method for the day it varies my carry gun is a Beretta 9000s in .40 always but it just depends how many mags I want to tote around. If I carry in a Bellyband I have 10 + 1 in the gun and two spare 11 round magazines. If I carry either OWB or IWB my mag can go in a desantis magazine pocket holster in my left back pocket or two mags can go in a double mag holder by Fobus on my left side instead.
Most days I carry a snub nose with 5 rounds and sometimes a speed strip. Add me to the shotgun in the truck club, all the snubbie has to do is buy me enough time to get to the truck.
PM9 7+1, with an occaisional extra 6 depending on where I'm going. As its been mentioned previously, if you can't resolve a situation with that many rounds then its time to get the hell outta dodge anyway!
I think most people would agree that your main goal should be to remove yourself (and family or who ever you are with) out of the situation, not to make sure you get all the BGs. Preserve life as priority # 1 but if a BG threatens that then send him/her a few hydra-shoks.
NY27 "When I carry my G30, it is 9+1 and a spare 21 mag of 13 rounds again giving me 23 rounds." How about push ups for not loading your G30 mag all the way!
1911: 8+1 usually 1 extra mag
P32: 7+1 usually sometimes 1 extra mag
T85: 5+0 usually a speedloader and sometimes up to two speed strips
Usually 2 of the 3 above are carried so average 17-45ACP & 8-10 for BUG: 25-27 Total Average
