Just what is your carry gun used for ?

A thread on another board got me thinking , ( yea i know lol ) but really, .......

Just what do you use your normal carry gun for besides ccw ?

As for myself i will swap ammo to ball ( because i am cheap ) and use it for a " chore gun" on the ranch . This has involved everything from shooting snakes to a field expediant drill in light sheet metal that i needed to put a bolt into.

If you dont use your ccw gun for " boondocking" or " chore gun " why not ? And what do you use for that role ?

most of the time, it doubles as a night stand piece as well as thinning out the local possum herd....

My 226 is the only pistol I own, and I use it for both concealed and open carry, for any reason I would need a pistol.

RR - mine's like yours, I guess. Since it is the gun I'm almost always carrying, it gets critter control chores and anything else needing holes in it. I say "almost always" because on weekends if I'm staying at home, I'll pack around a 44 revolver. Otherwise, my little 1911 gets to do everything.

My 226 is essentially EDC and night companion so - primarily kept for SD - tho obviously also employed for practice.

Now it is well broken in I let the 228 do business for IDPA and enjoy the 220 as well - tho that latter can easily be put on board as carry sometimes.

One thing the 226 is no more is a fun gun - it is a duty gun first and foremost. Other guns can fill other niches whether fun, silhouette, long range, PPC - whatever.

My HK goes camping, hiking, paddling and any other outdoor sport that might be a enviromental challenge to a gun. My 1911 is my primary carry, till winter hits,.

It is sometimes my nightstand weapon, however 90% of the time that chore falls to the 357 Revolver. I also carry the 357 loaded with a couple of varmit shells when clearing around the pond. (snakes)

My carry guns have one purpose only. I hope I never have to utilize it's intended use!
