I agree, it is a very odd ad. Then again, there were times when things were more simple and stable in this world...

Back in those days, many things were advertised that today we would consider just wrong...
"Let us speak courteously, deal fairly, and keep ourselves armed and ready."
No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.
Laws are restrictive but sometimes necessary to maintain a civil society. Rights are nonrestrictive but are always necessary to maintain a free society.
That was befor law suits were the best way of making a living. I remember not locking the doors, wasn't in the city, but in the town I lived in. Simpler times for sure. Most folks would take responsibility for what happened instead of blaming the one with the deepest pockets as is done now. But I'm old so I get to miss those times....LOL

I love some of those old ads. Makes you almost want to go back in time and enjoy a simpler, mostly lawyer-free and brady-free life.
Back then the ad was just fine, no lawsuits, people accepted responsibilities, and a man's handshake was a contract.
Sadly, those days are long gone.

"Give this to, uh, Clemenza. I want reliable people, people who aren't going to be carried away. After all we're not murderers in spite of what this undertaker thinks."

When you come right down to it...what's wrong with it? The picture shows a child sleeping it appears to me, with the revolver in her lap. She knows with it's "safety hammerless" system, it won't "just go off" and hurt her. She's not afraid of the gun or worried about it. The idea is to convince parents that they won't have to worry either.
For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.
