Got My First Handgun!
Well, I bought my first handgun this weekend! A CZ 75D 'PCR' 9mm!

In the usual run of things, what I initially began my research to get a few weeks ago wasn't what I ended up getting. I started researching the SR9C, then the Glock 19, 26, then I fell in love with the CZ 75B at the guns store, then further research introduced me to the lighter compact version of the 75 with a decocker called the 'PCR'. No one has anything bad to say about this gun, they usually rave about it, and I was was surprised when my local gunstore said they had a 'Compact D' in stock. They didn't know it was a PCR since it doesn't say that on the gun anywhere, but I saw the front slide serrations and no accessory rail and knew it was! When they got out the box for it is said 'PCR' on it. I love this thing! Great ergonomics, compact, euro styling, non-polymer but not that heavy either, 14rd mags, whats not to love? I need to clean her up good before I take her out this weekend. I also gotta change my forum sig to 'PCR' since I found this little jewel.

Great choice! You're going to love it.

That is a nice looking gun. I'm going to have to find one to rent somewhere....I'd like to see firsthand how it shoots. Let us know how you like it once you've put some rounds through it.

Ok....now that you've got the tool, do you know how to employ it?
I recommend getting some training beyond punching holes in an X-ring. Learn how to employ the gun...it won't ward off BGs just because you carry it....practice, practice, practice, train, train, train.
Check out www.ubgholsters.com for a good rig and belt.
Congrats on your new purchase.

Thanks everyone!
I have the feeling this won't be my last CZ.. From everything I've read and heard about their whole line of pistols, they just don't seem to get the press they deserve. I think if they said 'Made in Germany' on the side, and were featured in any Tom Clancy-esque novel, game, or movie they would be alot more popular. An more expensive..
Yep SIGguy, some actual training is definately on order. I'm going to take a basic gun safety class, my CCP class, and look around for a basic combat hangun class to get the ball rolling. I've also been studying a couple of combat handgunning books to get me familiar with the basics, stances, hand placement, trigger control, etc. I don't expect to be Jason Bourne, but I think the training will be very fun for me.

oh yeah, while I was at the store I spotted a Kahr MK40 and loved it! Definately heavier than it's size would have you believe, and great fit and finish. I am very interested in the 9mm version as a future BUG, or simply a smaller secondary CC option. However, I need to put in alot of trigger time and training with my PCR before I would be able do anything efficiently with such a small gun. Definately on the wish list though, along with the stainless 75B!
