    Range Report Kel-Tec PF-9

Shot my new PF-9 last night, Serial RL 8XX series. Fed 50 rounds each of Federal FMJ, Monarch (Academy Sports) FMJ, WWB FMJ and Remington Sure-Shot FMJ. Total of 200 rounds.

Had absolutely ZERO failures to feeds, fire, or eject. Smooth as silk. I'm impressed.

I've been teetering on the fence about getting a PF-9. Thanks for posting the serial # series.

Picked up my PF-9 last week and went directly to the range. The extractor "DISAPPEARED" on shot #32. Never found it. The spring and screw were still there and in place. Called Kel-tec and they said send it in - I said no, send me an extractor, It's only 2 hours old and I'm not going to pay for the shipping.
It's in the mail. I learned that the P3AT extract is the exact same one --, so I took it out of the .380 and put it in the PF-9. Over 262 rounds of mixed ball / HP/ +P and +P+ --- No problems.. Will install the new extractor in the P3AT when it arrives. Serial # RPMxx

I have one of these guns. I placed a Pachemyer number 5 slip on grip over the gripframe. This adds a little cushon plus another finger groove. takes out the discomfort from the Speer 9mm short bbl loads too.

For what they are, I like them. No problems with mine. See my post about Gun tests giving it an F rating. I completely disagree....

I have had countless FTF and have to send my PF-9 back in. Had problems since day one of buying the pistol and have since shot it several times with 7 different brands of ammo. Each of the ammos have had the FTF problem except Federal Premium.

I won't carry this gun until I can fully rely on it. I wish mine had come out of the box fully functioning.

Do you find the the Pachmyre #5 is a little loose and slides around? Perhaps it's my specific grip.

Have over 500 rounds thru mine with absolutely no problems. I don't think the recoil is an issue. YMMV.

I bought this gun last week and love it. It works very well for me however after the first 50 or so rounds the magazine would release and drop down everytime I fired the gun. I ended up shipping it back to Kel-Tec today. I herd there is an issue sometimes with this.

They originally came with a plastic mag release and there were issues with it wearing. I called Kel Tec and they sent me a metal one that I replaced myself. Because of where the release button is, sometimes folks will accidentally press the button, when they are firing a round. Not saying that's your problem, just saying that's another reason. I have conditioned myself to press the mag release button automatically, when inserting a mag, thus avoiding wear on the release. I do that with all my pistols.

I just took my new PF9 for a test run. So far its only hiccups were when it was being limp wristed by the GF. 2 FTE's leaving the spent round in the chamber and the next round trying to load. But when I fired it, even with a quick mag dump, it fired just fine.
