New S&W .44 Magnum
I've been after this S&W 629 for months everytime I take a trip to pick up some ammo or another gun I drooled over it so yesterday I said what the hell and brought it home. Its the 2 5/8 performance center .44 magnum and I don't think I've ever handled such a fine made revolver. The gunshop didn't have any holsters to fit N frames so I came home and ordered a Comp-Tac CTAC does anyone carry this combo N frame and a CTAC that can offer any advice? It's definitely a heavy sucker but running .44 mag I wanted that extra weight over the PD lightweight jobs.

Good question. Well, does anyone have any advice? Well, do ya'? I'm subscribing to this thread.

I have a 629 with 6" barrel. They are nice shooters! What kind of ammo is that by your gun?

Thanks guys, I fired it yesterday and its definitely a monster. Took a nice chunk of skin off the web of my hand between this guy and my .357mag but it was worth it.
The ammo is hornady hollowpoints, pretty intimidating seeing those red tips in the cylinder.
I could use some holster recommendations though as comptac just wrote and said the n frame holster they make probably won't fit my gun.
I will give a full range report later when I get home this blackberry is a nightmare to type on.

Wow!!! From a "sucker for a snubnosed revolver, especially a S&W, wheel gun guy from way back", that's just awesome!!! I'm betting .44 mag out of a snub is a handful. For a snub revolver person, does it get any cooler than that? I don't think so. Congrats!!!
