Why i chose the pps over the glock 26, khar, sig, etc.

In my extensive search for a concealed carry 9mm pistol I set the following criteria:
1. Compact and light but not a pocket gun and must have a full grip
2. At least 7+1 capacity with +P capability
3. Reliable and accurate
4. A reputable brand with good CS
5. MUST be able to conceal easily IWB with tucked in shirts for work and church
6. Mid priced
7. Attractive with a modern look and design and excellent fit & finish

Last year I lost my Sig 229 due to theft of my bag from my car because it was too heavy and bulky to wear aT the time. I was determined to find a pistol light and small enough to wear on all occasions but big enough to be accurate and give a full, comfortable grip with all five fingers.

I know this forum has lots of Glock followers but the G26 was not it for me because my pinkie had no where to go and it was just too chunky and looked blocky. The G19 was nice but again too thick and the grip never felt right no matter how many times I held and shot it. Kahr PM9 was too small and I was unsure of the brand and reliability. The Sig 239 was heavy and thick. The Keltec was too small and looked cheaply made.

However, he PPS satisfied all those criteria and gave me more. The 2 backstraps allowed me to customize the grip feel. The 3 sizes of magazines gave me different round capacities and grip sizes depending on my mode of dress and occasion.

Here are some pics that show well it conceals, the full grip of the standard 7-round mag that the Kahr and G26 don't have without some ungainly mag extensions.

its a good gun. I carry a g19 all day every day but there are times when i covet my buds pps. I also grudgingly admit i like the grip a bit better too. and its so thin compared to ....................Hey i have a kid on the way! Stop tempting me!

There is no comparison between the PPS and the other larger guns mentioned. The PPS is dramatically thinner, making it much easier to carry concealed.

This is why I prefer the .40 S&W over the 9mm. Both of these rounds are Federal brand HST Law Enforcement loads:





The only drawback is the increased recoil. But the Walther PPS actually handles it quite well indeed.

I bought my PPS because of the slimness. I am more accurate with the PPS than any other gun I own. For such a slim small gun, the recoil is soft, and its the only gun that I can carry IWB without being irritating. I carry at 3 oclock supertuck with a zero cant, and just about any old t-shirt will conceal it. It also loves hst's.

Actually, it may already be on the PPSTalk website. I'm not sure, though. But you can certainly post it there, if you would like to.

Only mods that I have done to the gun are to add the Limbsaver slip on grip #12013 ( only $10 ), and the DPM Systems Recoil Spring/Guide system ( $75 ), to help soften the felt recoil of the .40 S&W.

Nice reasoning. I debated over the same batch of guns myself and ended up going with the Kahr due to it being a little smaller. I do like the looks of the PPS a little better though. The single stack guns are definitely much better for concealing. Here is my PM9 compared to my M&P9c
