I should have my concealed carry permit in 30-45 days and I'm trying to finalize my decision as to which gun to purchase. I'm thinking about a Gen. 4 Glock 19. Any reasons you would vote no to this?
Sitting here now with my Glock 19 (Gen 3) on my hip in a comfortable Crossbreed SuperTuck. I often forget I am wearing it. It took me a while to adapt to the trigger system from my Kimbers, but this is a damn fine gun and aims as well as the Kimbers. The trigger is NOT a Kimber trigger, but with practice, it is fine. The weight/firepower/concealability tradeoffs have made me a convert.
As a new Glock owner, I went for the Gen 3. No regrets.
Glocks are fantastic and very reliable! You can't go wrong with a Glock 17, 19 or 26 but if I had to choose between the three I would go with the 19. Other interesting options are Sig Sauer P220, HK P30, Beretta Px4 and Walther P99. Make sure you try out all guns at a local firing range, decide on a trigger system such as Single Action Only (SAO), Double Action Only (DAO) or Single Action/Double Action (SA/DA). I think that all Glocks are SA so make sure that you are comfortable with this. I personally carry SA or SA/DA depending on the day and situation, but most people feel more comfortable with the SA.
Also, you need to decide how you will carry your gun (In the Waist Band, In your Hip, in your pocket, Shoulder Holster, Ankle Holster, Pocket Holster or a Fanny Pack) in order to see which caliber, size and brand of gun is ideal for you. The name of the game is R-E-S-E-A-R-C-H before you buy!!!!
If I could only have one; it would be a G19 in a Rocket Man IWB Kydex or a Kramer Belt Scabbard for OWB. Simply the finest out of the box defensive pistol there is in my (and many other people's) opinions. It always goes bang, is easy to care for and is as accurate as well.
I like my Gen 4 G-19, for a first CCW it would be excellent, do your self a favor and give it a 1,000 round trigger job. You will shot it better and it will be part of you by then, the trigger will get smoother the more you shot it.
First of all, the Glock platform regardless of caliber is one of the most popular defensive guns in the United States and other parts of the world as well.
Getting down to models, again the Glock 19 is one of the most popular defensive weapons going.
While I have not handled any of the 4th Gen Glocks I have had a 3rd Gen Glock-23 for about 12 years now and love the 3rd Gen Glocks.
So, I don't think you'll have any problems with your Glock19!
I am not a Glock lover, but if you really want a G19 I should recommend the 3rd gen.
