Neither are cheap and both have pretty good reputations. And both fit your objectives since you're OK with single stack.

But here, even though OC is legal, it seems to be very, very uncommon.

So, I appear to be in the market for a small and very easily concealable carry gun. I will not go lower than a 9mm, and .40 would be best. I currently carry a Glock 23 every day now. But something flat, easily concealed in a pocket or IWB holster would be great. I am OK with single stack. The only thing I am not open to would be a Taurus or other low quality hand gun. (Sorry you Taurus fans out there. I am not a fan and I am not going to become one no matter how great your Taurus gun is)

I am leaning towards a Ruger SR9 sub compact. I'd like to hear from anyone who has one. And from anyone out there who has another gun to recommend.

    Educate me please.
If it must be pocketable and it must be a 9mm then I would recommend a Kahr PM9. If you want to go with something a bit less expensive you could look at a kel tec pf9. However I have to agree with those that have said the SR9c is not a pocket gun. Personally my pocket gun of choice is the Ruger LCP. I'm not a huge fan of .380 but it fits the pocket role well. On the flip side if your not adverse to having less rounds on tap would a snubby .357 be a possibility?

P.S Welcome to Indiana. It doesn't get any better :(

Always a good J frame or even a Diamondback 380.....I have been looking at those....pretty nice option.

A Kel Tec PF9 is a good choice, I don't know your personal preferences when it comes to spending money or your budget but this nice little pistol is one of the thinnest in the market today, is super flat. Is super easy to conceal.

I have a friend who talks highly about the Ruger LCP. What do you all think about that as a pocket gun? I have personally never shot one but he says it is good for his "lazy" days when he just needs to throw something in the pocket
The only time you can have too much ammo is in water or in fire

I currently carry either a S&W Model 36 j frame or a Glock 26. I can carry either one in my pocket or IWB. Lots of folks say the baby glocks are too big for pocket carry but I've gotten used to it. If you want to stick with your G23 I suggest an Mtac holster I have one for my glock and it is great.

Since you don't want to go smaller than a 9mm. Your only practical choice is the Kahr PM-9 (IMO still a bit big for pocket carry.)
CZ Rami? great gun, too thick.
    Springfield EMP? Nice!!!
I have the Springfield Micro loaded in .45 and it's a sweet IWB gun. Really lays flat.
Rorhbach R-9? Too expensive for a pocket gun you will never practice with. Painful to shoot. YMMV.

Get night sights (I wish I had them on all my guns.)

My personal choice? Sig P-238 in .380 It put the rest in the safe.

or for something completely different? Bond arms Snake Slayer or Snake Slayer IV. (.410) Check out the horizontal driving holster (BAD) Two rounds of .410 buck will ruin any B/G's day.

I would also suggest a S&W 642 .38 revolver. Loaded with +P ammo it should a good choice for pocket carry.

Yes. For the Glock 23 get a CrossBreed SuperTuck Deluxe. I have one for my Glock 19 (same size as your G23) and one for my Sig P228. It's the most comfortable/concealable/adjustable IWB holster. For something smaller like a single stack 9mm like the Kahr PM9 go with the CrossBreed MiniTuck. Don't forget a good gun belt. I have a wilderness instructor, 5-stitch I use daily and a 511 casual a rarely wear. Invest in a good holster and belt combo and you won't have to buy another gun. You'll be just fine with the Glock 23 you already have.

Small 9mm: Glock G26, or a Springfield XD 9sc... both are great guns and work in OWB or IWB holster.
S&W 340PD is a good choice also, although darn near twice the cost of the 442. You get .357Mag in the same size, but it's actually lighter than the 442.
