Can anyone tell me the width of a Kimber Pro carry? I assume the measurement on the website includes the safety, and I was wondering what it was if you ignore the safety.
I've been looking at a glock 36, and am considering a 1911. I just want to know if it is really that much narrower than the glock.

I have a Kimber Pro CDP with slim grips and have measured it. The slide is 0.90 inches wide, from flat to flat (the same as most 1911s). The grips are about 1.05 inches wide at the widest spot (slim Alumagrip panels). The thumb safety (Ed Brown single sided, removed stock ambi) is the thickest point, and may go 1.20 inches or so. In total it is a very slim gun.

As long as you stick to ammo around 200 grains or less your pistol should never get any fatter,but once you start feeding it 230 grain stuff you will have to buy new holsters every few months
