Kel-Tec FP9 Range Report: What A Piece Of...
...Fine polymer and steel!
Cleaned off the new PF9 with Gunscrubber and Hoppes #9, then a generous lubing with Breakfree CLP and Militec-1 grease. Off to the range where it happily ate 150 rounds of WWB 9mm FMJ with nary a hiccup. I'm very impressed with this little gun and now place them in the category along with Bersa as the best bang for the buck!
Two notes:
1. After the Gunscrubber cleaned the slide, I could see tiny spots of surface rust forming, but hopefully the CLP will put an end to that.
2. I wore an Uncle Mike's shooting glove as the recoil was a bit stout. Nothing you couldn't handle for 50 rounds or so without, but I wanted to get at least 100 rounds through it. About the same recoil as a lightweight snubbie, maybe just a little less without the slam you get in the web of your hand with the snubbie.
All in all, I'm happy I decided to grab one of these when I had the chance; they are not the easiest pistols to find these days.

I have a 'hard chrome' on back order too. The wait-time is said to be about 3-months.
Kel Tec now has a facebook page. On one of their posts they admit that they had had a problem with whomever does their chroming. But according to KT, the problem has been resolved.
They have a 'new' website in case you're interested.

Why not buy a blued version and have the slide plated by Jack Fuslier (nickel or chrome I think) or CCR with Cera-Plate or Cera-Hide? I'm leaning toward a CCR refinish job myself.

I had a PF9 and carried it for almost a year. Just sold it, just couldn't get used to it and that awful trigger. A great little gun though I must say I know I will regret selling it. But I replaced it with a colt detective special so it was a really good trade UP

Well, went back to the range and put another 175 rounds through it; 150 WWB FMJ and 25 Winchester Silvertips with only one stovepipe the entire time.
I think I've found my new EDC!

My PF9 tended to to be to large for pocket carry and I don't like IWB carry.
Now carry its smaller brother the P3AT and am happy with it.
Found both Kel Tecs are 100% and well trust worthy.
