    Can the P229 shoot +P?

Can the Sig P229 shoot 9mm +P ammo? This is one of the guns I'm thinking about getting as my first pistol, and I was just wondering if it would handle the hot 9mm stuff.

Yes it can. Sig recommends ammunition used should fall within the SAAMI specification, which includes the +P rating.

The SIG is a fragile flower that can barely stand being shot, let alone with the dreaded +P rounds.

If you look at it hard it may break, rust, fall to pieces or explode.

The 229 can shoot .357 Sig so I doubt it would have any problems with wimpy 9mm.

Absolutely. The P229 was designed around the .40S&W platform, and is a slightly "beefed up" version of the P228 (yes, this is an oversimplification, but it works for this discussion). The P228 can easily digest a relatively steady diet of +P; the P229 (arguably) even more so.

Aside from that point, it is a FINE handgun, and among the best in terms of relability, quality, and accuracy. OPFOR says check 'em out.
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.
