Decided on a new EDC

I have been doing lots of thinking about getting a new EDC. First I was going to splurge and spend some $$$ on a 1911, but I have since decided if I get a new one, it will be a new Glock, specifically either the G19 or G32 with maybe a conversion barrel for practice. Several reasons come to mind that makes this a good decision. First off, I have trained with Glocks, I know them inside and out. Second, Although all firearms require maint, Glocks seem to be able to tolerate the abuse and if I dont clean it after a day of shooting, it wont hate me. Third, the price. I can get a decent holster for one and still not spend as much as I would on a 1911. I already have a Fobus OWB holster for the G19, if I can still get the 3rd Generation.

All in all, I think it will be a good choice. It will be a month or so before I am able, but I hope to have it before October.

If you believe that those are good reasons for getting a Glock then do it. But why should you not be able to get a 3rd gen G19?

Going with what you're familiar with is not a bad thing. It will serve you well.

Might I ask, "What is your EDC now?"

I switched to Glocks for a couple reasons.
Sweat. Was killing my 1911 and even a small SS Colt .380.
1911 was just too much weight and bulk to try and conceal during the summer months here down south.

Puchased a Sidearmor IWB holster made of Keydex. Included the sweat guard and have never looked back.

I work outdoors and am very active outside. This seems the best all round combination for me.

First off the 3rd Gen Glocks will continue to be made indefinitely, so no worries there. Second, what a great choice. The 1911 is a great weapon but you would find your babying it. The Glock is like a Craftsman screwdriver, and Estwing hammer, or Toyota pickup. It may not be the most attractive or your favorite of those available, but they do the intended job...work. They do it very well with very little percentage of fail.

Just keep in mind that if you get the 19 you cannot convert up to a larger caliber. If you get the 23 or 32 you can add 2 conversion barrels and have all 3: 9mm, .357 Sig & .40.

To answer the question, I currently do not have an EDC. Months ago I had a .25 but after doing some test, Id id not like it nor did I trust it (to many FTF's and FTE) so I sold it off. I am having to save money, I dont make nearly as much as I should be but that should change soon.

As to why i did not think I could still find a Gen 3, I thought when the Gen 4 came out they were going to quit making the 3. If they have them in stock, I plan on the .357sig, if not, I will get the 19. Had one before and loved it. Sold it when I got divorced, it was that or risk her getting "custody" of it.

I own both glocks and 1911's and one I am not afraid to beat up and train with and the other I think I would cry if I got a scratch on it. I will let you figure it out.

Diablo, you are only a barrel purchase away from having a G32 with your G23. Unless you want the convienance of having all three pistols. If thats the case, carry on!
