Please help me decide between my kimber or glock/xd

I own a Kimber CDP Pro II and live in texas, where it is hot and sweaty. I am concerned about the finish on my gun. Would it be stupid to trade for a Glock 30 or XD 45 Compact?

I just traded a G30 for a TLE II but I carry a G19 daily. There is no doubt the Glock is more corrosion resistant but you shouldn't have any issues with the CDP with a daily wipe down.

Have you actually had any rust yet, or is this a hypothetical concern? For what they charge, a Kimber should not rust.

Of the three, I would go Glock all the way - but you will take a beating on the trade. Better to save your pennies unless the Kimber is just not working for you.

No way would I trade the Kimber for a Glock or XD...maybe trade for two Glocks/XDs.

FWIW, my non-working hour EDC is a stainless Pro Carry II. Not as many bells and whistles as the CDP, but built with the same materials. It is plenty hot, humid & sweaty here too. I've had no issues with rust anywhere on the firearm.

For the cost of that Kimber, I'd sure want more than just one Glock or Xd...just sayin'.

Heck yeah, that was what I was saying in my previous post. If he goes for that trade, I have ocean front property in Nebraska for sale.

An even trade? Heck no, a trade + $$$, that's all up to the individual.

It would be stupid to trade it. Sell it outright if you no longer like it. I suggest you carry it in the cooler months and get something else for warmer weather.

I've daily carried an Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry IWB for ten years, including in Florida and Texas. Didn't wear a t-shirt under it in the summer, either. Never had an issue with the finish. I would wipe it down once a week with a silicon cloth for insurance.

Unless I was starving or about to be evicted, I'd never sell or trade a Kimber CDP, except maybe for another one. But it you want to get rid of it, I'll trade a genuine single-action AMT Backup for it. The AMT has more metal and a better trigger than a Glock, plus can hide in the palm of your hand. ;-)

Not a chance that I should trade a Kimber for a Glock or a XD; not even for two of them . I had rust problems with my firearms, but after I started to use Eezox and Renaissance wax the problems disappeared.

Keep the Kimber, save for the G30 and get it too. You'll appreciate both.
