Bought the Ruger thinking I might conceal carry it some. Decided to give it to the wife to keep in her office desk drawer. She had a Rossi in there but likes the Ruger much better. She likes it so much she now carries it in her purse and leaves her Taurus 85, her former purse gun in the desk.
We took the Ruger to the range yesterday along with the Sig Mosquito and my Sigma 9ve. The little J frame is a joy to shoot. Shot 50 rounds of target ammo and five rounds of 357 magnum JHP. The trigger is really heavy but reasonably smooth. I'm tempted to put a reduced tension hammer spring in. Recoil very manageable. Nice flame with the magnum rounds.
It has to be one of the better options if someone wants a small revolver for carry. It's not light weight but it's very shootable.

Congrats. I myself love the Ruger SP101 it is very easy on the hands to shoot. I love the feel of this gun it is the right weight . IMO you can't go wrong with this gun. Enjoy.
Love my SP101. Carry IWB appendix in a High Noon Mr. Softy. You might want to shoot it a little more before putting in the lighter springs if the gun is brand new. The more I shoot mine the better the trigger pull feels. Just my .02. I shoot Winchester white box 110 grain .357 for practice and since I could not find .357 Gold Dots in my area I carry Golden Saber 125 grain .357 for defense. Nice medium power load. Enjoy a great revolver that is built like a M-1 Abrams.

I too have been thinking of a SP101, I would use it for backpacking and nature photography. Sounds like it is easy to shot, which might be a good gun to start my wife with, light 38 special loads.
Congrats. Glad that you enjoy it.
