Like several others have said; the Glock 30sf is tough to beat for a compact .45. Also agree that you should handle and evaluate several and then pick the one that feels right for you. XD, M&P, HK, Kahr are all good choices. I Love myG30sf; it has become my favorite CCW piece.

I am VERY happy with my G30. It goes bang every time I pull the trigger, and that makes me smile :) I had the PT111 mil pro, and once I got the Glock it was like going from a Geo Metro to a Hummer.

Heckler & Koch makes the HK45 Compact and USP Compact in .45ACP, though "compact" is relative. The HK45c is 7.2" L and 5.6" H with 10+1 capacity, whereas the HK USPc is 7" L and 5" H with 8+1 capacity. The USPC is a bit longer than a Glock 19, though it's thinner.

Coincidentally, these two guns followed me home from the gun show while I was looking at compact 45's.

Rifle is a Saiga in 7.62x39. Pistol is a Kel-tec PF9 with a DeSantis Nemesis holster. I'm loving the PF9. It slips into my pocket and I completely forget its there because its so light and flat.

And no, the PF9 isn't going to replace the need/want for a compact 45. After talking to a local gunsmith, I am 99.9% sure I'll be getting a G30.

Finally "pulled the trigger" on the G30. I found one used on Gunbroker for a decent price and includes factory installed Glock Night Sights.

Just picked it up from my FFL on Wednesday. Hope to get to the range this weekend to play with it and make sure its in 100% working order.

    Here's some good options:

    Double Stack:

    - Glock 30
    - M&P45c
    - HK 45 Compact
    - Beretta Px4 Storm Sub-Compact

    Single Stack:

    - Kimber Ultra Carry
    - Glock 36SF

If I had to choose one, I would go with the Glock 30 (reliable, affordable, solid mag capacity and lots of spare parts and accessories available). If you don't like Glock, try out the HK and the Beretta...they are the most beautiful and ergonomic guns out there.

I am thinking of a Kahr PM45 or P45 for a single stack.
