    Question about Ed Brown parts.

I have a S&W 1911 Sc I am upgrading. I was thinking of replacing the magazine release with an Ed Brown extended release and the mainspring housing with an Ed Brown chainlink mainspring housing. My S&W has a very deep blue finish on the parts I'm replacing, would the finish on the Ed Brown parts match? Also I've heard that some Ed Brown parts are out of spec, has anyone had any problems, especially with the magazine release?

Buy your Ed Brown parts from Brownell's. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/cid=6...Parts/ED-BROWN
That way if anything does not fit or even if you just do not like the finish you can return the parts for a full refund. No questions asked.
I never had any problems with Ed Brown parts. They are very high quality parts.

My Kimber TLE II has Ed Brown slide stop, firing pin stop, chainlink msh & extractor installed. I have an extended mag release but I'm not sure I want to use it. The Brown parts are pretty dark and match up well with the Kimber's finish. All the parts pretty much dropped in except the extractor. Thumb safety is next because I've already broken two Kimber safeties on previous guns.

I know, I know....I don't have a clue why it happens. The extended part breaks off and leaves a sharp little triangle. I'm blaming the guns!

What is the reason for your hesitation regarding the extended mag release?

I don't have a problem reaching the standard release and I've never cared for extended mag releases. I got this one in trade with a bunch of other stuff and I might use it on something someday but I think the standard release is fine for now.

They seem to work fine for most people but I sure haven't had any luck with them.
