Kimber Crimson Carry - rust?
I had some rust on the rear site and part of the seat where the rear site well.....seats.
I take prestine care of my edc however is this normal for the smaller 3" 1911s?
I have full size etc... and they rarely ever rust. I had her oiled well too. Maybe not enough in one spot?
Is there a recommended solution for preventing rust growth or removing it without removing any factory coating on the steel?

It does not happen only to smaller 1911's, all firearms - included stainless steel ones - can rust. I had the same problem with mine, and I really take care of them. I removed the rust and started to use Eezox, and the rust never came back. I love that product!

Don't take the rust off with steel wool. It leaves behind tiny particals that will create more rust. A blue scotch brite pad and a little oil will get it off. It's not that uncommon.

There is a product called Blue Wonder that's supposed to remove rust and not harm the finish.

Steel rust. Clean the rust off and take precautions to stop rust. Even stainless steel revolvers rust. If you have external rust you probably have internal rust.
