Picking my last gun of the year...

Decided to pick up one gun more for the year.( Due to saving for the p-239). My choices: S&W 686(3 inch barrel), M&P 40 Pro( Don't have a 40 S&W), or a Glock 23. the use would be carry/HD/range. Could get a deal on the 686(display model, never fired). Thoughts?

you can't go wrong with any of those choices. It would depend on how much of a deal you can get.

Well if u can shoot them both & see how they feel to ya......My .02 is the M&P they already have night sights & a smoothed tigger plus the M&P's feel great in the hand (yeah i know i own a glock but in my defense its been around awhile) & between the Glock & M&P both are extremely reliable so either one will get the job done.........Sorry NO revolvers for me

I'd go 686. Hard to beat a nice-sized .357 Mag wheel gun, IMHO.

None of them are on my wish list; I guess that I would take S&W 686.

I would agree at this point....even though you obviously know which way I'd gravitate. Get the best for you at the time, according to conditions, and work with it.

It's better to have it when you need it then need it and dont have it.

Well, the capacity of the 686 is 6 rounds, unless you get the 7-round one. If you require more capacity I would suggest the G23. The nice thing about the 686 is that is single/double action and you can shoot .38 or .357 Mag. IMO, I think that the G23 is easier to carry/conceal and faster to reload. Since my experience with M&P is limited to just handling it a couple of times at my LGS, I will not comment on it.

    Good luck with your decision.
