refinishing my colt officers model, have some questions

I have a lightweight officers acp with the aluminum alloy frame and the matte blue finish. The dust cover parts of the frame and slide have quite a bit of finish wear on them.

I'm wondering what the best thing is to use to touch up these areas? I can buy alumiblack locally and cold blue, but I've heard that the cold blue won't work on the alloy frame,is this true?

Also is there any type of product I could use to touch up or re finish this gun? Thanks.

I don't know what to recommend, other than do nothing at all. There is no real worry of corrosion, other then massive neglect, and a nicely worn (not abused) 1911 looks nicer than a safe queen to me.

    YMMV

Cold blue is made for ferrous (iron) metals only. You will need alumablack for the alloy parts. Be sure to fully degrease parts before applying the finishing materials, I prefer to use acetone but make sure you have good ventilation an NO ignition sources. Good luck on your refinish job.
