Very nice! I'd really like to have an M&P .40 compact, and also an M&P fullsize .40 or .45. Its too bad they're just far enough down on my "want list" that it will probably be a long while before I ever own one but I've been very impressed with the M&P guns. My ONLY complaint is that I wish the trigger reset was a little more discernable - otherwise its a darn good gun but like all things nothing a little training (or an apex trigger) can't solve. But the ergos, performance, price are all really good - and hey its an american made gun! A good contender in my book.
I have a G19 as my EDC. My dad has a M&P9, i liked it so much, i got the .40 for myself. It will be the bedside gun. Trigger reset is nonexistant. For now, I'll get some time in with it, if necessary I'll get the apex kit.
I was juggling the M&P 40 against a Glock 22 for a while. Both good guns, both take conversion barrels, both have interchangeable backstraps for better fit, etc. I prefer the distinctive trigger reset on the G22, but that wouldn't have been a deciding factor. In the end, the economy stepped in and slapped me with a hard dose of reality. Neither gun is not in the picture for a while.
WHAT? The M&P might require some aftermarket mods to make it work better? Seriously?
Anyway....congratulations on your new pistol! Nothing like a new pistol, and finding your way around it or working with it. It's all worthwhile believe me. The rest of it will come to you in time. Or you'll ditch it and find something better. LOL! Best wishes for you and your new pistol, no questions asked.
I'm sure you will love it as much as my five M&P's. I agree that the Apex trigger is a "must" upgrade. I put an Apex sear in all of mine... Even the two Pro's.
Try the apex DCAEK. I thought the sear was good until I bought a gun with the whole kit installed. Short of a 1911 I haven't found a better trigger for a carry gun.
Shot it yesterday for the first time along with my G19.
Big difference. There is NO trigger reset with the M&P. I can hear/feel the reset on the Glock.
the .40 still shot nice and it was fun having another gun, but I still like my Glock better.
Question: If i get the whole Apex kit, how much would one charge me to install? I can do the sear, but that's about it. I bought the gun online, so i can't go back to the LGS...
The trigger will smooth out. You don't need the Apex kit. Their nice, but you don't need to spend the money. Lots of dry fire and some shooting. It's gritty feeling will get better. The guns are different. You're used to the Glock, so it feels better. I'm reversed from you. I had the M&P first, then Glock.
