For those of you that like beavertails

I purchased this off a Sig Forum Member and picked it up on Friday. Sig P229 Elite Dark in .40 S&W.

Friday afternoon I got to shoot 40 rounds of Speer Gold Dot and 300 rounds of WWB.

The SRT trigger is so much better than the stock Sig trigger. The DA pull is still very long (in my opinion the way it should be in a gun with no manual safety) but is not overly heavy and still breaks nicely.

Most Sig owners either love or hate the beavertail. I happen to be the former. It might be in my head but compared to a non-tailed P229 it seems to have less muzzle flip.

It carries nicely in the Crossbreed Supertuck. For those of you used to carrying a full sized gun you will not notice any difference.

For the future I plan to send it to CCR for a reverse two tone, purchase the g10 grips, shoot .357 Sig through it as well and add a SCT magazine for when it rotates through as the night stand gun.

Good find, that's a great gun. Which mag carrier is that?

I have two 226's and a 229 SCT. The only one with a beavertail is the 226 Blackwater. I'm a 1911 guy and for me, there's a need for the beavertail due to my very high grip. On the Sigs, I don't find a need for it, but I still like it there. When I draw, it helps guide my hand into place, plus I just like the way it looks.

I carry my Sigs now and then and the 229 SCT with the 18 round mags carries just fine. I have the SRT in all my Sigs and it makes a huge difference. So does the thin trigger, you might want to take a look at that.

It is a Fobus single mag/flashlight paddle carrier. The only drawback for me is how low off your belt the bottom of it is. A short cover garment won't work with it.

Until you get to the top portion with the magazine sticking out it's just a flashlight holster, even then you may be able to convince most sheep that it's a fancy pez dispenser.

Is it pretty tight against the body? I usually use leather, but I'm starting to use Kydex.

Nice Sig. I like beavertails, ever since I had on on my car antenna. (Not quite that old, but close)
Seriously, anything that keeps my hand away from the slide is a good thing, and it looks good, too.

I don't know how it could get any tighter. I have a few leather mag carriers and two kydex carriers. This is by far the most comfortable.
