Ok getting a Glock 27 have one more question
Okay guys I've made my decision to get a Glock 27 thanks to all the info you guys gave me in my other thread.
I have but one more question on the matter, and that is which extended base plate is best from a reliability stand point, the factory Glock +2 or the pearce +1? Is it recommended to change the mag spring with either of these, and if so what spring weight? Thanks again guys I'm going friday to rent a G27 to ring it out and get a feel for it,with a purchase to follow soon after.

I didn't want to mess with the question of reliability with the +1 and +2 extensions, so I went with the Pearce PG-26XL (no additional capacity), and love it.
I also tried the PG-26, but I like the XL more.

I dont carry compacts or subcompacts but know people who do, a good friend of mine carries with the factory +2 on his 27 and has never had a malfunction with it. Just my .02

If you add rounds to the Glock mags via the use of 'extended' round base plates, then you must change the mag springs.
I added the Pearce "zero" round extensions to my G-26 mags...I have the extended finger grasp but no additional rounds, nor do I need to change any mag springs.
Just what I did...

I would stick with factory magazines. Why mess around with the reliability if you don't have to? If you want a higher capacity magazine, simply buy a magazine from one of the big brother Glocks and add a magazine sleeve. This way you'll have extra rounds and not have to worry about reliability.

I'll go against the grain: I own a G27, I've got 4,000+ rounds through it with magazines that have both the +1 and +2 Pearce grip extension with STOCK springs. I have never had any problems with FTFs or other malfunctions. This is also one of my daily carries.

I use Pearce + 0s myself because I picked up a used G30 a few years back and one of the mags had a +1 floor plate and it would not lock the slide back after shooting the last round when using that mag.
I think that they will work fine with mags that are new, but after the mag spring gets older you may have
to replace it.
Thats no big deal if you think about it because you should replace those springs when they have a lot of rounds anyway because you are CCing it and need a gun thats 100% .
That said I still use +0s to be on the safe side.

I carry a 27 for the small size. I don't want anything on it that makes it bigger and I don't have small hands either. I just changed my grip a little. Before you buy an extention, you might try shooting it and see if you really need it.

If you're planning on adding an extension why not just go with the G23 instead? You'll likely spend the same amount for the gun and you won't have to cash out for the extensions to bring you up on round count.
I carry my 23 every day and it conceals very well.

I use either the stock 9 round mag or the stock +1 made by Glock. The base of the floor plate has a big "+" and the Glock logo.

It is better to have your gun and not need it, than to need it and not have it!
Still can't believe what happened on 11/06/12! Disgusted and disappointed!
