    Not another Glock thread!

I tried to resist the urge but I couldn't do it!

I went down to my favorite gun store in town and really wanted to finally cross that "woods" gun off my list. I've lived in Alaska for almost ten years and been into guns almost five years and never got around to getting a gun that would be easy to carry on my hip when I'm hiking or camping.

I ended up choosing the Glock 20SF. I've shot a regular Glock 20 but it felt like I was holding a brick. I did shoot it okay though but the SF model fits my hands so much better. It's on layaway at the gun shop right now, and I'm already going nuts thinking about bringing it home.

I hear good things about the 10mm so I'm stoked about owning one of the best 10mm platforms out there!

Well, I first read "woods" gun....then I read Alaska....and I somehow knew this was going to be a 10mm.
Another Glock thread? Well, yeah...maybe...........you think folks here are bored with Glock threads? Well, okay......I'm never bored with a Glock thread. Your description of the G20 vs the G20SF says a lot. I have yet to try one of the Glock 10mm pistols or any of the SF models. I really need to get my hands around some of those that peak my interest. Wife and I combined have four vouchers for GSSF member priced Glock pistols. I almost hate to think about bringing a new caliber into the home...but ready for something new at the same time. Make sense? Good.
Layaway at the gun shop. That's awesome! Not many do that around here.....but I bought my 870 Express on layaway locally.
One of the best 10mm platforms out there? I think you're right going with the Glock on that note. You've committed yourself, and so it shall be. I feel your anticipation and excitement. Don't go off the wall now...wait until you get it and hold it when it's yours. Nothing quite like the feel of the first Glock. They even smell like a new car when you get them fresh out of the box.
Stocking up or finding some 10mm ammo will be on your list of things to do. Kind of like painting the baby's room and buying food and diapers.
I want you to PM me when you get it in your hands. I'll want to know everything about it and when you fire the first shot. Got me?

I'll give a full review of my experience with the G20SF once I get it and pick up some ammo, then go to the range and shoot it.

I've stuck with 9mm almost exclusively when it came to handguns but I know 9mm isn't very good for carrying in the Alaska tundra.

You know I gotta show up for this one! Congrads on a great choice! More and more people are finally realizing the 10 is the most versatile auto cartridge out there. My advice on ammo choice is 175 grain silvertips for light skinned game and self defense against people. For woods protection order the 200 or the 230 grain hardcast loads from Double Tap ammo. Stay away from the loadings by some of the more popular ammo makers, because they load about a +p 40 short&weak loading. DT loads to the 10s full potential and has a wide variety of choices. Hopefully more people will come around and discoverf the 10mm and make ammo to be available at wally world, but until then, the 10mm is an elite cartridge for an elite group of shooters.

In just a few minutes, a Glock fanboy will come by and post a link to a test where a Glock was put in a blender filled with Drano, sulfuric acid, Coca-Cola, piranha, and 2 pounds of industrial diamonds. A CAT D8 bulldozer was then dropped on it from 1000 feet. The owner picked up the Glock, chambered a 155mm HE round, hit a post-it note at 917 miles, and then proceeded to run 726,761 rounds of Wolf ammo coated with Gorilla Glue with no failures. "

You know, I really like traditional style guns. Blue steel, wood, SA revolvers and leverguns. But I have never, ever, seen, owned or tested any gun, including ones from Brown or Novak, that will give one more bang for the dollar than glock. I would love to know where there is a 1911 that will outperform and outlast a glock. I would buy it and not look back, because I love traditional guns. But Glock got it right early on and everyone else more or less copied. That says alot, gotta go with the smart money, and that spellsG-L-O-C-K. Now , the 10mm completley without question TROUNCES, SMASHES, AND STOMPS, any other practical auto cartridge. Yeah I know the truth hurts. But admitting we are wrong is the first step to recovery, and moving up to the G20 10MM.

There you go again with a misquote...it was only 875 miles.

Prett funny, but I was wondering how long it would take for a hater to come along and soil a good Glock thread. To the OP, congrats! You and Uncle Ted now carry the same handgun!
