Thumbs up Picked up my first 1911!

I've always wanted a Colt 1911, My uncle had one I was very impressed with and have had the bug for a while - so finnally I broke down and got one! Its a new Series 70 Reproduction, Colt seems to really be improving on the QC level and this one seems pretty well put together. I'll hopefully have a range report to follow!

'Colt Government Model'. That says everything right there in my book! It's something that everyone who wants a pistol in their hands should have at one point IMO. Where you go from there is entirely up to you. I firmly believe since this was the first pistol I ever held, shot, and entrusted with my life in combat. It is truly a basic foundation from which everyone should start. One of these days, I firmly believe I'll find my way back. There is nothing like the basic (gov't model) 1911 and there never will be for those that know deep down. I'll confess my sins for ever having one leave my hands in what I thought were better interests at the time. I know what my soul is made of, and the 1911 is part of that no matter how far I've strayed. Congratulations on your new 1911! It will become part of you forever. It's a beautiful pistol and a work of art..........it has a lot of history behind it as well it should. One of he best combat handguns ever. I envy you in a way. My best wishes to you and your new pistol. Range report would be nice. Be safe.

Thanks for the comments! I too really like the basic "Government Model" and I feel this may not be my last 1911 either! I may get something more "custom" in the future with night sights, beavertail etc but I think I"m gonna leave this one the way it is! 1911's are functional art in my book.

That's a beautiful gun. If you don't experience any hammer bite then all you may want to consider is some new sights. Other than that, it's perfect, just perfect!

Colt has invested in a lot of new/modern precision equipment.

    Beautiful Colt, congratulations.

QK is quite correct, Colt is investing in more and more CNC machinery, their quality has been getting much better within the last ten years.

Once you get a 1911 it seems like all you wan't to do is follow with buying more of them. I have actually considered buying nothing from now on in handguns "but" 1911 models as I have a bin full of various magazines. They really are in my opinion awesome to shoot with the design of that single action short clean trigger. Welcome to the 1911 club.

They are definitely hard to beat and worth the wait IMHO. Every now and then you can find them for sale here on the forum, but you gotta be quick.
