    S&W 642 first range trip.

I had a chance to shoot the 642 today, some target 38's and a few SD 38 +P about 70-80 rounds total. I like it overall, the trigger will take some getting use to. That kinda surprised me because I shoot a Kahr PM9 with a double action trigger much better and more accurate.

I am sure the 642's trigger will smooth out some after some dry-firing and 500 rounds or so.

I have pocket carried some in a Uncle Mike's size 3, works in jeans and dockers but not in dress pants. I will carry sometimes in AIWB High Noon Hidden Alley and maybe get a belly band or smartcarry.

Nice to have a wheelgun, variety is the spice of life.

The best thing I did for my 442 was ordered a shooters pack from Wolff Springs. I switched out the main hammer spring (factory 10 to 12#) with a 8# Wolff spring and switched out the hammer return spring (factory 18#) with a 14# Wolff Spring. I removed the lock flag while I was in there and smoothed out the hammer/trigger/sear contact points with some 1500 grit sand paper. It's a smooth shooter now and easy to keep on target. It still maintains firmness in the trigger, but isn't overbearing. There are some youtube videos that walk you through it step-by-step. It's easy, inexpensive, and takes about 30 minutes or less. After about 1,000 rounds it became evident to me that it wasn't going to lighten up much. I kept the original springs and the lock flag so it can easily be returned to factory spec if need be.

had to take my 642 to the gunsmith and have some trigger work done on it, changed the springs. my trigger just wouldnt loosen up had a really stiff point in it. the gunsmith told me that hes seeing alot of the 642 & 442 in for the same reason
