Thumbs up GSG1911 - 7000 Round Accuracy Report

After more than 7000 rounds through my 2-week old GSG1911, I thought it would be a good time to do a review of its accuracy.

    Blackberry Video:

If you can't tell from the video, I just love the GSG1911!

Fourteen boxes of 500 rounds in two weeks? That's a lot of shooting. Is that in your backyard?
Glad you like your new pistola! Enjoy...

I wish that I could shoot the target and the video at the same time... Maybe that is a trick that I should work on.

More than 7000 rounds in two weeks is quite a bit more than I could ever shoot with any of my larger caliber handguns. With the GSG1911 being a .22lr, and my gun club located between my work and home, 7000 rounds is quite doable... Just ask my wife.

This is the record that I am keeping with my GSG1911. It shows exactly when parts are being repaired and replaced. I am quite happy with the way the GSG1911 is holding up. The only part breakage has been the barrel bushing, which is a known issue and has been addressed with the current models being shipped by GSG. ATI customer support is outstanding, and replaced it right away. The breakage did not slow me down, since it is a standard 1911 part and I temporarily replaced it with a bushing from one of my other 1911's.

It took me 2 weeks to finish 1 box of Federal 550 value pack!

I was looking into getting a new 22LR target pistol- a S&W 22A. But it's nice to see that for a little extra, I can get a much nicer-looking 1911-style plinker.

The cheapness of rimfire can't be beat :) Plus the kids can shoot too!

I looked and held one of the GSG 1911's at a LGS and it felt nice. IIRC I believe they were selling it for under $300. I might have to think of getting me one now. How is the weight of the gun ??? Does it feel like a regular 1911 ?? God Bless

Got mine for 319.00 plus shipping and transfer came out to about $354.00,In the last 6 weeks I have put around 4000 rounds thru mine,at about 1000 rounds the barrel bushing failed, then the anbi safety broke, got parts within a few days of contacting ATI,the ambi safety needs to be fitted so it stays in eith the on or off position, but able to move it with minor resistance, otherwise it will shear off the connective parts.Haven't had anymore trouble since replacing the parts and send about 550+ rounds downrange every week

The GSG1911 is almost entirely a standard 1911. The entire lower receiver accepts standard 1911 components, and can be upgraded like any other 1911.

The slide, barrel and firing pin mechanism is where things are different and have to be so. The slide is considerably lighter than a standard 1911 slide, due to the minimal recoil provided by the .22lr cartridge. The barrel is necessarily a fixed design, and the firing pin mechanism is a complete unit that resides in the slide assembly.

As for feel, it feels exactly like any other 1911 and that is the main reason I purchased mine... It makes a cheap practice platform. The weight is about 9 ounces less than a standard 1911, due to the lighter slide assembly.

    I hope that helps.
