Upgrading my Collection
Ive sold my Tarus 357mag so im putting money towards a new gun im stuck
between a S&W 686 or 40cal M&P. decisions which way would you go? Im looking toward the 686 for a collection stand point ?

Might as well replace one .357 with another I'd go s&w 686! If you need a daily carry piece though you can't really go wrong with the m&p.

Since you sold a revolver, and being that you state it's from a collection standpoint, I'd favor replacing it with a non-Hillary Hole 686.
Yes, I'm a purist and believe that S&W Revolvers should not have that hole in the side of them. The lock is on my safe, preferably not on my gun. I think the M&P will be around for a good while, so you can pick one of those up at a later date if you want.
If you can't find a non-Hillary version of the 686 then I'd suggest a Ruger GP100.

Go with the 686 if you want a revolver, it's a huge step up. There are so many of them out there I doubt it will be a collector, especially if you shoot it.

I would also recommend that you get a pre-lock model 686. I like these so well that I have two of them. And you can get them in several different barrel lengths, from snubby to long barrel target gun.

...or a Ruger SP101. That 686 is a sweeeeeeeet revolver, though...
