Are Bersa firearms any good?

I've owned my Bersa for a long time. Both, my wife and I have used this gun to save our butts. So, we're kinda sensitive when we think someone is badmouthing a gun that has "proven" itself when it counts.

I agree that the Bersa is a solid and reliable firearm. I have a Thunder .380 and wouldn't have a problem carrying it. I purchased a Bersa 9 Ultra Carry a couple of years ago. Man that was a good gun. I gave it to my brother as a gift for helping me with some stuff.

Bersa is one of the best values out there.

Just got back from the range feeding my new Bersa CC (Just out the box) some Italian, Fiocchi 90 grain JHP, no burps . Love it !

I also have a Bersa Thunder 9 UC Pro, bought it lasy year..... the best kept secret for anyone looking at a compact carry 9mm, although just a tad heavy for some.

After months of researching I decided on a Bersa Thunder U C Pro.in 9mm. I could have paid more for a well known compact but I've heard nothing but good reviews of these handguns. There is little or no advertising for these and they're not easy to come by some of the time. It came in a cardboard box with 2- 13 round mags. It feels great in my hands and 250 rounds out of the box witout any problems. Got a cheap Uncle Mike's holster and plan on using this as my summer carry. (winter is my M&P 45). This handgun has exceeded all expectations so far.

Congrats on the new pistol. You will not be disappointed. Post up a pic and give us your thoughts on accuracy, recoil, etc.

Let me know if you need a custom holster because I have a UC Pro in 40 for a form to make you anything you would like.

I've been wanting to get the UC 45 for a while now. I somehow ended up without a 1911 and am not wanting to spend that much on another gun until they stop calling my wife student and start calling her doctor (tuition is insane!). Yet, I still want a 45 in the inventory. If I can find one locally I think I'll have to take the plunge... then go searching for leather.

The only downside I've seen on the 380CC is that it can be quite finicky regarding ammo until broken in. Not everyone has this experience, though.

Mine was really picky until I tried PMC -- which it loved. Broke it in with that; it now feeds everything I've tried (including many which failed to feed prior to break in).

I have the Bersa Thunder U C Pro.in 9mm. Great gun. But, it's picky on ammo. Has to be factory new - no reloads.

All in all, that's not a problem.

I have to say that I really enjoy shooting this gun at the range.

Anybody ever have to deal with their customer service or know what kind of a reputation they have?

I haven't, but I've been all over their website and you can order just about any part straight from the site. I've also lurked in the Bersatalk forum and I've never heard anyone say anything bad about their CS. It doesn't appear that they need it very often either. Both are a good sign.

I would say 20 years ago they were more unheard of than considered junk.

My 383A is well made and extremely accurate. And I'll bet you my paycheck its better made than anything today.

The Thunder 9uc has its own thread...good reading. One guy went over 3,000 rounds without cleaning just to test it and still never had a failure. They indicate they're not ammo picky at all and appear to not have any issues with limp wristing either.
