    Ruger SP101 Meprolight

I just installed a Meprolight on my Ruger SP101 and have a question on aiming. Those of you that use this sight, are you centering the dot in the rear notch or aligning like the factory sights? If I do this, the dot seems to be very low in the notch. Thanks for any help. The sight really looks great.

I think I'm going to put a Mepro front sight on my SP101. Was it hard to do? Did you go somewhere for instructions? Could I do the work myself with a Dremmel?

I'd take that sucker out and shoot it. Find out where your point of aim is.

I had a local gunsmith do it. While I'm sure I could have done it, it was easier for
me to take it in. I can't wait to shoot it. Just didn't want to look real silly if the shots were completely off. Although at 7-10 yards I'm sure it wouldn't affect them much.

    Cool

I just had a Trijicon night site installed on my SP-101. The pin that holds the factory sight in requires a 1/16 " punch to remove it and a 1/16" hole had to be drilled through the base of the sight to replace the pin. It took about ten minutes, a vise, brass head hammer, 1/16" center punch and a 1/16" drill bit and drill. The white outline on the sight makes a really nice improvement over the factor unit.

My Mepros dropped right in. Drilled and pinned easily.

I like the white outline around the tritium vial. The plates ain't pretty. They were first time with new sites from about 10'ish away and a couple feet apart drawing from OWB holster under shirt. I have learned the dot needs to be on/cover target. But all in all I was faster, more accurate and very pleased with them.

    Enjoy yours, you will.

Zero - So you center the dot in the notch as opposed to making the front sight line up evenly across the top with the notch? Guess I'll have to play around. Does yours seem to slant slightly upwards to the right across the top? Mine seems to ever so slightly. Not a big deal, more aestetic than anything. I'm sure I could file it flat.

Wormy - I ordered mine from Optics Planet for $44 shipped. Received it two days after I ordered.

I was low because the dot was not totally brought up on center. It was basically point shooting with a large dot to help.

When installing I filed it slightly to let it seat evenly. The bottom of the white ring is in bottom of rear sight with tops pretty much flush.

I do like it low light and at night.

    Free shipping too.

    Here are some instructions:

Different sight and gun, but same procedure and same tools needed.

My gun shop installed my Trijicon on my Ruger SP101 for the cost of the night sight...about $60, I believe.
The last Blood Moon Tetrad for this millennium starts in April 2014 and ends in September 2015...according to NASA.
