How often do you clean your mags... Really clean them, not just wipe them down.

Just looking to see what other people do. I carry a G19, and probably shoot about 2x month, about 200 rounds per trip. I can honestly say I have never really disassembled, and cleaned my mags in close to 1000 rounds. Am I asking for trouble? I only wipe down te exterior when I clean my gun, prior to loading my EDC ammo back into the mags.
    Thanks

I clean my mags whenever I clean my gun, usually ever 2-3 weeks and after firing it. I've never fired that many rounds from my EDC gun without cleaning the mags but have rimfire mags with several thousands of rounds through that I have never cleaned and have had zero problems.

I always wipe them down and even clean the followers and depress the spring and clean around the mouth of the mag whenever I clean my gun but I only do a THOROUGH cleaning probably every couple of months or so unless something happens to make me want to clean them out... like the time I dropped my Glock mag in a mud puddle.

I clean them as much as I can without taking off the floor plate and taking out the insert, spring and follower on my Glocks. This is how I do it after range sessions. Once a year when I do a complete breakdown and cleaning of all my Glocks, I also break down and clean the mags.

I'll get into breaking down my Glock magazines once or twice a year depending. My match magazines that hit the dirt, maybe more often. Some of my mags haven't seen a good tear-down in over 2K rounds. It's kind of go according to conditions just like the air filter in your vehicle. Pavement.....or dirt roads.
Wiping down the outside of your Glock mags, and getting the carbon or powder off the top of the follower is good maintenance simply for range use. Magazine break-down according to Glock is not really recommended. There are those times however, that you need to take care of your equipment in order to take care of you. The difference in knowing when you actually NEED to do this relies with the end user. IMO...you don't need to over-think things. Especially with the Gocks.

Field strip is a must for me. That is about it though with the Glocks. The Kahr gets cleaned with the 1911's. XD's and now the M&P also get field stripped after we shoot.

I disassemble and clean my mags maybe once a year.

They really don't get very dirty inside.

Not too often. I don't have a schedule. If they feel gritty or make noise I clean em. If they function fine then I leave em alone.

Strip 'em down and give them a thorough cleaning every time I shoot.

I depress the follower and swab out the inside with a Q-Tip after every trip to the range. It gets fairly nasty, especially right at the top. I probably don't shoot as much as many here. The Glock mags get broken down once a year. My S&W and CZ mags are much easier to disassemble, so they are cleaned out after each use. A shot of dry lube helps keep the powder residue from sticking to the pieces.

I spray them down with CLP after a range trip depress the spring a little and wipe them down, never had a problem if its unreliable I'll just replace the mag they cost less than a box of ammunition. If I haven't shot it than it won't get cleaned.
