I don't like leaving firearms in my truck but if I'm out in the woods or expecting trouble I keep a 12 gauge mossberg under the rear seat and I carry my 1911 sometimes I'll stick the LCP .380 or a snub .38 in the center console armrest if I'm on a long trip.

Dont carry in my car, always in my person. When Im in town, I generally carry one side arm. When im traveling I carry two...one on my ankle, the other at the 4 or 5 oclock position.
Remember as a rule of thumb in defensive carry...your intention is always to STOP....not to hurt, however; in a gun fight, its either me or them.....and Im sure as hell that it will NOT be me.

It's very rare that I would carry a gun in my car.
If so, it would be my PA-63 locked in a strategic spot.
My G27 and DB380 are always on me.

I always have a pistol (XD40) in the car (on my person, or in hands reach) and my 12g in the truck or backseat. And a good amount of ammo on hand in case WWIII breaks out while I'm someplace...

Never keep any gun in the car but when I'm in it, one on my hip and one hidden in arms reach.

I don't want this to sound to sturn so please keep that in mind. Neither I or my wife believe believe in purse carry, so why would anyone leave a firearm in their vehicle. I don't care if you drive a Lexes or a hooptie.

I keep an old beat up sks behind the seat of my truck, just in case I'm in one of those situations where my carry gun is not going to work. I got caught in a riot traveling thru a US city years ago, and my 357 was enough to keep people from getting to brave when they saw it on my dash board in plain sight. But, ever since then I felt like a long gun was good insurance.

    Ah...the old "car gun" debate.

IMHO - a gun is either on your body, or in a safe at home. I believe you have a duty to secure your weapon, and leaving a gun in a vehicle on a regular basis is not secure - even in a vehicle safe - because the whole vehicle can be stolen in seconds.

Yes, you have no legal choice when going into a "no gun" zone - I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the designated "car gun" that gets left in the car all the time. Don't do it.
The more good folks carry guns, the fewer shots the crazies can get off.

The only gun I carry in my car is the one on my person.

+1 Not sure about other areas, but in my area, car break-ins are an every day threat. That SKS behind the seat is a goner, no doubt ending up in the wrong hands. Same with the pistol in the glove box or center console. Lockable glove box? Nothing a screwdriver cant handle in 5 seconds. If you MUST keep a gun in the car, lock it in a lock box that is secured to the vehicle so it can't be removed.
