    Does This Exist?

Im looking for a .45acp the same size and weight as an all metal 3'' bbl 1911(I believe its called the officer model) but with no grip or external safety. Does such a gun exsist? To give you something to compare to,

    Thanks in advance.

Detonics has no grip safety, but has a manual.

    I'm pretty much stumped.

Kahr has no safety, but is a poly frame in .45 acp.

Thanks kahrcarrier. I guess if I had to choose between not having a grip safety or a thumb safety, I would choose to not have a thumb safety.

Thats what I was thinking. But they are hard to find now on the used market, but fine handguns. Some police trades in Chiefs Special were being sold on Gunbroker a while back I think.

Anything with a single action trigger system is going to have an external manual safety. Any commercial 1911 or clone will have a grip safety. You could get a Para in LDA and not use the thumb safety, I am not a Para fan however.

SIG P220 compact or SIG P245 will be pretty close, but they are alloy framed and will be lighter. There was a few P220 compacts with steel frames made recently, I would post over on SIG Forum for the info on that one. I think Star made some compact 45 ACP guns without a grip safety as well, and they are all steel.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the help. I guess what I'm looking for doesn't exsist yet.

I think I found something close to what I was thinking. It still has a thumb safety but with the double action pull, shouldnt need to use it.

That's a Sig 245 which has been replaced by the Sig 220 Compact. A great choice for anyone not wanting the manual safeties of a 1911 and about the only current choice for a compact metal frame .45ACP.
