    Decisions, decisions

It's that time again. There just has to be a new toy with my name on it. I've got it narrowed down to 4.
    1. FNP-45, 15 round
    2. Glock 30, 13 round,I think
    3. Para Ordinance Wart Hawg, 10 round
    4. Springfield Armory XD, 13 round.

Here's my rationale. After reading many posts about bullet caliber, I've decided to move up to 45ACP. I have a Colt Double Eagle but it's pretty much a safe queen. I really like my Glock-26 and I love my EMP in 9mm. The Wart Hawg and FNP really look appealing. I don't get to the range often enough to trust to flawless shot placement so I'm deferring to round count. I would get a Colt 1911 but I can't live with 6-8 rnds. capacity and I want to be able to conceal it on my overstuffed body. The FNP might be too large but they look great, especially the new tactical model.
You guys seem to know which guns are the best "bang" for the buck. What do you think?

Glock 30 is a ten-round mag, but it will hold 13(+) with a G21 mag (and a mag sleeve to fill the gap). Nice for HD duty. My only complaint with the Glock is the OEM slide release lever, which the extended model for $15 took care of. The weight is a bit much at the end of the day, but that's gonna happen with any hi-cap model in .45.

I looked at the Springfield XD and decided it was even chunkier than the G30, which I bought. No experience with the FN or Para lines, although FN has a good rep but too pricy for my tastes (and wallet).

I think the G30 is the best compromise for you.

I also looked at the same options and went with the G30. 'No regrets.

    I would choose the 30 or 30SF.

Sticking solely to your list that would be my choice they're a little chunky/heavy but with any hi-cap 45 you're going to have that issue. Only problem I see for you is the round count, its only 2 more rounds than a standard 1911 but really if you miss 10-11 times practice more!

A suggestion would be to go your gun shop and try your choices in your preferred carry position to see which fits the best. Good luck with your choice.

I need to muddy the water here a little. Consider these.

    1. S&W M&P 45ACP 10+1 and 14+1 I like the 4.5" barrel. or M&P Compact 8+1 or 10+1
    2. HK USP 45ACP Compact Variant 1 3.8" Barrel 8+1
    3. Ruger P Series 45ACP 8+1 4.2" Barrel
    4. Sig P220 45ACP Compact

My .02 - I say go with the XD-45 Compact as opposed to the service model. The FNP is too big overall, the Glock 30 is a brick and the Warthog too is a brick.

My next purchase is the Glock-19, but the G-30 in behind the 19 on my list.

I have a FNP-45 and love it. Big, heavy, ugly, accurate, soft recoil, and goes bang every time. I was in a class not too long ago and had a couple of "professionals" (ex-military, ex-LEO, work for the State Dept now) that tried it and they really liked it. It is a big gun so I can only cc during the colder months here. Try one, I think you will like it.
