Just like the title says: do any of you have any opinions or reviews on M&P compacts with night sights? I'm thinking I'd like to put some on my 9c, but haven't "bit the bullet" yet.

Yep, the factory S&W Nights sights work great. I've not looked at any of the third party sights, although I know that a number of companies now offer them for the M&P pistols, including Trijicon. I believe that the complete Trijicon rear and front sight kit for the S&W M&P runs around $130 from dealers.
I'm thinking about the XS bigdot or standard dot on my M&Ps. I'm also interested in everyone's opinions.
When shooting during the day or in high-light situations, do you have trouble seeing the night sights?
I have warren tactical tritium front/plain rear on my M&P9fs. I shot very well with them for 1300 rounds last week, including 2 night shoot sessions. I think tritium front/plain rear or tritium front/1 dot subdued tritium rear are the way to go as they allow you to maintain a much better focus on the front sight in low light conditions. The warrens also have a U shaped rear notch, which I find makes it very natural to center the front sight in the notch vs square notches. The standard 3 dot setup with same color/same size tritium vials is about the worst night sight setup I have encountered because the rear dots appear larger and brighter due to their closer proximity to your eyes. This makes it much harder to maintain a hard focus on your front sight.
If I were buying today I would get warrens again, but get the rear with a single yellow tritium vial under the notch. You might also wish to look into heinie straight 8s or a 10-8 performance rear with a warren or heinie front. I have experience with both of these options and would be about equally happy with them as with my current setup.
I put Big Dots on my 1911,front sight is round and rear sight is a line, sight alignment is as simple as dotting the i

I have an M&P 9 with factory night sights and I've found them to be excellent.
