    Ruger 22/45

I saw one of these for sale at the gun shop and was a bit interested. From what I hear it is made to feel like a 1911. I have an interest in a 1911 so it seems like it could be a useful practice gun.

Does anyone own this gun or have any opinions on it?
I think it was going for $225 with two magazines.

I have a Mk II 22/45 in addition to a Mk II. In all honesty, it ain't that much like a 1911... the grip is way thinner, but it does have the grip angle of a 1911.

My original Mk II remains back east with a friend and I needed a rimfire target gun, and the 22/45 was maybe $45 cheaper than the all-steel Mk II when I bought it. Also, I didn't need a second Mk II! FWIW, I put in a Volquartsen trigger kit, and this gun is now an awesome shooter! Trigger pull is down around the 3 lb range (guessing here) and breaks like the proverbial glass rod.

I paid $200 brand-new for my 22/45 7 years ago, so if the one you're looking at is in good shape, I'd say $225 is a good price. It's tough to wear these guns out!

Good to hear. I'm not looking for anything top of the line. Just a nice .22 from cheap practice. My father has a P22 we have had some luck with, but looking for something a bit more reliable. It gets a little annoying correcting FTF a couple times every magazine. Plus the grip is really small compared to my Sig and Glocks.

I have a couple of 22/45's. They are fantastic plinkers and they can be souped up easily if thats your thing too.
