Thinking of a new wheel gun; request imput

I have been thinking about a new j frame S&W 357 mag to add to my already big wheel gun family. Actually I have thought about it for about 6 years, but have been content with my 642. I like the idea of the magnum power in a j frame, but have had reservations due to worrying about how it stands up to full house mag loads. I have a tendancy to load'em as hot as the book allows. Back in my day the k frame which is larger than the j frame had issues with forcing cone errosion and cracking with these loads, which is part of my concern here. I know the sp-101 is more robust, but I prefer the smith due to various reasons, one being I already have holsters and gear to fit it. For those of you who own and shoot this, what are your experiences with it? And for those older wheelers out there, I would appreciate your thoughts also. Thanks in advance.

If I were looking for a J-frame I would buy a 340PD. It is light weight, .357 and is about the only one with usable sights.

We're all in favor of reducing violent crime. It's just that pro-gunners have a method that is proven effective. Anti-gunners don't.

Sir you are right! The G20 is still my favorite glock, but it is a special purpose type gun for me. I have and will always prefer revolvers as everyday working, hunting and self defense guns.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention I want an all steel model. It will not be a pocket rocket.

As far as im concerned the Ruger SP101 is the best 357 mag on the market. All stainless steel, no side plates on the frame, small and fairly light. I have never heard anything go wrong with one. Go with one of those.

J frame? .357? All steel? S&W 649 all the way, and NO. Mine is NOT for sale.

A friend of mine has a S&W model 60 with I think a 3" barrel. He loves it.

    Look at the S&W 640.

Will be used for a rotation gun, when a smaller 357 mag feels like the ticket for the occasion. I like the full shroud model( original bodyguard style) for the option for single action. DAO is nice because it mirrors my 642. The model 60 in a tradional exposed hammer is also appealing. It could be any of these really, just need to decide.
What I really want to know is how they shoot, recoil and durability with full house loads.
I know the sp101 is a great gun, but I want the smith.

    649.

Then if you can find one at a reasonable price a 610 down the road for the 10mm aficionado in ya.
