I like the G19's size better than the M&P9c. The M&P9c has a little shorter of a grip than I like and adding a mag extension kind of defeats the purpose of the smaller grip. I like more of a full grip on a defensive gun.

The M&P is a fine gun by all accounts. I just prefer the mags on the Glocks - they're steel-reinforced polymer, instead of just naked steel. Less chance of the mags getting dented if they get dropped, and mag problems cause a significant percentage of pistol failures. There is also no chance of an out-of-spec follower impacting the mag catch in a Glock...if that happens, your mag can come loose or even fall out of the gun. It's happened with my LCPs (2 of my 6 mags) and Kahr had a big problem with this with their .40 pistols a few years back (their supplier changed the mag followers without telling them).
The more good folks carry guns, the fewer shots the crazies can get off.

Glock makes a great pistol that will "boom" every time
But in my opinion the M&P is much more comfortable in the hand, trigger feels smoother, has interchangeable grip panels & has a killer CTC laser grip available..........My vote is for the M&P

Just back from the range and gun show today. My wife settled on the Glock 19 after shooting 5 different 9mm's, including the Sig, Ruger, Springfield and after each one said the Glock felt the best. So, filled out the papers and bought the Glock.
I was at the range today,I own and carry the G19. I rented a M&P 9mm compact and it was accurate enough but
once I put my glock back in my hand and fired a mag I new I was truly a glock guy, just felt better but that's my honest
opinion and I have friends that swear by the M&P, good gun but not for me. What I like about the glock is it's awesome
right out of the box!! And so many upgrades and mods you can have fun with.

Go with the glock 19! I have one and could not be more pleased... Not one problem with it...!
Everyone should have a G19 in their line up. It just works.

It is better to have your gun and not need it, than to need it and not have it!

I say Glock 19 but I'm a fanboy so take it for a grain of salt.

Why not buy both? Honestly, I bought the M&P for my daughter. They are both fairly close in size and fill a similar role, although I think the G19 could fill the role of a duty weapon a bit better. The M&P fits her dinky hands better, the G19 fits mine better. They are both quality pistols that should serve you well.

I've owned both. I now only have 2 Glock 19's. The reason is the trigger. To make the trigger on an M&P easy to shoot and reset, you have to modify it or drop in aftermarket parts. I don't want to use aftermarket parts. So I carry Glocks and modify the grip a little to make it fit my hand better. Ton's of people do it, www.gripreductions.com is a good one. He did one of my G19's.
I didn't read the responses, but here is my take... Think about what you want to do with it and see if one stands out better?
I like the fact that anyone can be change out parts on a Glock they are dead simple. prefer the polymer wrapped mag, it my just be me but they seem tougher. I like that EVERYONE has a Glock so loaners, spares etc are easy to come by. Lastly, I prefer the Glock trigger.
Both are outstanding, both are reliable, the Glock is everywhere and the S&W is an American product.
