Duracoat is THE best paint type finish out there. I have tried them all. After it has had a full 30 days to setup before hard use it is almost bomb proof. As tough or tougher than the factory coating. Having said that, if you draw from Kydex all of the time and not leather, then it would tend to wear ANY finish on the edges. I have a 1911 that I redid in Titanium on the slide and Combat Black on the frame that has been through hundreds of presentations from a leather holster and it still looks new. And you can touch up the Duracoat just like touching up the paint on a car if it does get dinged. Usually the metal will scratch or deform under the Duracoat before the Duracoat will chip. The only thing I have found to be tougher is Hard Chrome. Then there are other electroplate type finishes that are more that on the surface. But for the color selection, flexibility and cost to get done, you simply cannot beat it. For example to just do a straight refinish in one color for a frame and slide I charge $150.00. Quite reasonable I think. Just the paint to do this camo job was right around $50.00.
