I have been thinking a TRP, but I have not owned a Colt and saw the Rail Gun and wanted to ask your opinions. I know the guys on the 1911 boards, but everyone gets pretty brand bias and I think I get better answers on here.
It sounds crazy, but Colt's seem reasonably priced with regards to 1911's.

I am with you C Hawk. I tend to think JMB would approve of a rail on his design actually. He would consider it beingyet another advance in engineering ot make it the tool he meant to be.
I like the Colt model.

I've been eye-balling the Cerakoted rail gun for some time, probably going to get one in 2011 along with the 100 year Anniversary model. All Colt 1911 pistols made in 2011 are going to have a "100 years of service" or something to that effect on them and I'd like to have that on my rail gun.
As for the rail, some are more tasteful in appearance than others. The full picatinny rail can be unsightly but others aren't so "offensive". The rail on my Nighthawk isn't too bad.

I just wish they chose another name. "Colt Rail Gun" always gets me excited... only to be disappointed once I read what it actually is.

I picked up my Colt Rail Gun today.
I love the look of the Colt. I was trying to decide between the Colt and a Springfield MC Operator, went with the pony from Hartford.

Biker,
I just picked one up too! LOL... I got the stainless! I will post some pics tomorrow, by the way they had a two tone that I almost got and man it was tough because the black and the brushed stainless was pretty sweet. So I must confess that this is my first Colt. I always wanted one, but had other firearms to buy. Boy it does feel good to have a Pony in the stable though. As my Uncle (Carries a 4 inch Python in a shoulder holster everyday) once said "Get the Colt you won't regret it."
By the way, I got mine for 1050.00 brand new out the door. Don't tell me you paid way less!

Congrats on the new Pony.
OK, I won't tell you I paid less, but I did.
Mine too is stainless. I put my new grips on it, cleaned and oiled it, and have been dry firing it off and on all night. I plan to go shooting on Monday, as I'm off all week.
One thing that suprised me, and pleased me to no end was that my Rail Gun had a G.I. Guide Rod instead of the FLGR. I was under the impression that they came with the FLGR. I was prepared to yank that sucker out of there and replace it with the Guide Rod John Browning had intended for it to have.

You can't pay too much for a Colt or Winchester, you can only pay too soon.
