I would like to look at some 1911's but since I have never owned one the controls would be a lot different for me. I have read a lot about Kimber and Sigs but they seem to be problems with those with 3" barrels. Comments??????
Would that be Valley Guns ? I buy all my guns there, I was holding your G36 Today. Their good people to deal with, let me know if you want that G36 might be able to help ya save a few dollars

There a some good Sig choices and also for Kimber 1911's. If you have never owned a 1911, I would suggest a 5."

I have the G30, and sometimes at the end of a long day wish it was a G36. The extra 4 rounds of .45 ammo seems to gain weight by the hour! If capacity is a big concern, carry an extra mag, or two - three - 10 ... whatever amount makes you feel loaded for bear (or zombies).

Whenever you talk about Glock and 1911 on a forum, an endless amount of fans will state that the one is better than the other . IMO both are good firearms depending on what you like. If I did not own a 1911 and I already had a Glock, I think it would be a good idea to get a 1911. Do not worry about the manual safety (that is the only control); you will get use to it very fast.

IMO Kimbers are very nice firearms, but I prefer Colts

Stick with your original plan and buy the Glock 36 since you are already familiar with the Glock platform, it is a fantastic handgun for concealed carry (single stack mag) and you are already convinced with Glock's reliability and high quality. Nonetheless, if you want to get a different brand or platform I say you go with a 1911 (Kimber, Springfield Armory, S&W, Colt or Sig Sauer).

Still never answered the question as to what the guns purpose will be.
I have a Kimber 4", several Glocks (no .45's), HK .45 Tactical which is my Favorite, & others.
There could be some truth to your fears of a 3" 1911.
Probably for all around i would go with the Glock (inexpensive, reliable, easy to clean, etc...), then again, we don't know what you plan to do with it........

I agree, if this is an EDC then I say Glock or M&P. If this if for pure shooting get the 1911 they are just more fun to shoot for me.

I am a 1911 fan and own and love a 4" Kimber Eclipse. However these days when I leave the house I'm almost always packing a G 26 or 19. Since you are used to your Glock already maybe you should stick to the Glock plan. Just my humble opinion. These Glocks big or small are pretty hard to beat.
