    PPK/S Issues - newly developed

After thousands of trouble free rounds, my Interarms PPK/S has suddenly developed the following problems in the last 100 rounds or so:

    1. The safety lever drops in to "safe" on it's own when firing. This happened 3 or 4 times.

    2. The hammer did not stay back for SA follow-up shots as it should; again; 3 or 4 times.

    3. A couple of failures to eject properly.

I'm using the same ammo I usually use; Fiocchi 95grain FMJ. Why is my usually reliable PPK/S turning into a POS all of a sudden? I've been shooting this pistol just fine for 15 years now.

Problem with the spring and/or detent that holds the safety lever in position. Pull it and clean it and see if it's in good shape.

Yup, that would be my first thought too..... I'd do a full takedown and cleanup on it and see if that fixed it; it might be time for a replacement spring just to make sure.

Number 1 definitely sounds like what Superhouse said. 2 & 3 sound like the recoil spring may be getting weak. They're cheap. I'd put in a new one and give it a try. It might be time for a good servicing/replacement of wearable parts (springs, etc.).

Thanks for the input; the more I think about it, the more I think I'll just order a complete spring kit from Wolff's and see if that does the trick.

The Wolff Service Pak II is probably what you want, also check Numrich for a new detent and spring.

And let us know if that fixes it, please.

I'm late to the party but when my Beretta 92SB started giving me issues I rebuilt it with new springs, haven't had any issues since.
There is something about firing 4,200 thirty millimeter rounds/min that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
