Taurus PT1911 or Para GI Expert 1911?

I have been looking at taurus 1911's and today picked up a Para GI Expert 1911 in local shop, felt great.
Both guns have had horror stories. I'm looking for help on a choice between the 2. My 3rd choice is a rock
island tactical 1911. I know in this price range it's hit or miss but just some help would be fantastic to help me
choose! Out of all three feel wise the para was 1st,rock 2nd and then taurus. Reliability is the issue.

I have a RIA and a Taurus. I shot the RIA in IDPA and USPSA for a few years, until I got the Taurus, which has better sights. Both guns have well over 5K rounds each and never a problem. Most of the ammo shot was 230 FMJ, but I have shot Remington Golden Sabers 230 JHP in both guns and they run fine.

RIA have a very good reputation and would be my first choice. Of the other two I'd go with the Para.

Have you considered a lightly used Colt? You might want to check some out.

    Good luck.

My PT-1911 has been 100% from day one. I have two brothers who also have PT-1911s, both of which have been 100% since day one. This is NOT a top shelf gun, but it is functional and a good value. Don't let the naysayers turn you away from it.

If I wanted a Government size in that price range I should get first a Springfield GI, and second a RIA. Or even better, for about $600 - $640 a Springfield Mil-Specs.

Thanks so much GM for that link. They have the Rock island 2 tone tactical I was looking at for
a great price. Now I owned a compact rock island 1911 .45 and was sorry I sold it,great shooter!
But the Para still grabs me and it will be hard to choose, they both are priced right. GM you have helped alot, now I have 2 very likeable 1911's to choose from.....HELP! The thing I like about the Para is the short guide rod, easy breakdown and great reviews by NC law enforcement. On the other hand my old rock was flawless also but a pain to breakdown. Time to sell my snubbie, easy choice to help w/cash for a 1911!!
