I reject your reality, and insert my own.
.40 S&W as a primary (P229) and .40 S&W or 9mm as a BUG (P239 or MK9)

Voted. 40S&W for me. Pretty much ever since I started CCing. My specific reasons behind that might very well have to do with the platform I chose to go with. May not necessarily be my favorite cartridge so-to-speak......and I'd guess if it weren't for Glock, I might have settled into something else on a primary carry caliber. Don't honestly know. I seldom question destiny. It's the combination that makes the 40S&W my primary carry. Not the caliber alone. Just wanted to make that clear. If you've ever heard me say that the 40S&W is my favorite round....it's more than likely due to Glock. Many various pistols in different calibers over the years in 9mm, and 45ACP. I've never had anything other than Glock with the 40S&W, and I know I'll never have any reason to change. It's my rock solid foundation.
Have been carrying a Ruger SP 101, .357 magnum, 2 1/4" barrel in a Galco OWB holster. Still "breaking in" my Kimber SS Ultra Raptor II .45 ACP and getting used to it. Will be carrying my Kimber when I am confident with it.

.357 Magnum is my default cartridge, due to total carry time. .40 S&W is my mandated duty cartridge, and sometimes I do carry the duty SIG concealed, but .357 is in my SP101 snubby carry/back-up guns, my S&W Model 19 carry sixgun, and my GP100 field/woods/sometimes-urban sixguns. When I am at work, I carry .357 revolvers to back-up the .40 duty pistol. Factor out the duty pistol, and I use .357 for virtually everything.
I must give a bit of support, however, to .45 ACP and .45 Colt, latent favorites which will get more carry time after I retire from a PD that has standardized on DA .40 autos for uniformed personnel. I kept my favorite 1911, a Baer TRS, and I have several .45 Colt sixguns.
If I ever get out of the blue target suit, and wear "plainclothes" at work, I will be allowed to qual with a .357 sixgun again. I looked that up just this morning, to see if that rule was still there.

.40 S&W most of the time, but also .357 when I carry my snubby.

Ruger SP101 - .357 Mag
-.45 as primary
-.38 +P as BUG or quick errand gun
Just getting comfortable with the .45 round, but currently researching the HK P2000sk .40 as a possible EDC.
I carry .45 and .40 but I voted .45 because it's the caliber I prefer to carry and shoot the best.
I carry a SA XD in 9mm. I first started with 45 acp but acceptable accuracy was just not there for me with that caliber. I feel confident with the 9mm, lots of ammo capacity and quick follow up shots.
