I hate these videos. This is a great example of why.

The time to first hit has nothing to do with the gun, it is all shooter. The follow on shots fall in just about the same spot. He missed high and right, that wasn't the gun's fault. As far as stopping with one shot- you're dealing with pistols- no matter what caliber it is going to be poor at that task. (Though I have seen them rank the same caliber differently from time to time, and I have no idea why).

Well, how about a comparative ranking? I haven't shot an LCP, but I bet I can do a good comparative ranking:

Ruger LCP vs. my XD-9sc: XD wins.
Ruger LCP vs. nothing: LCP wins.

I do find it amusing that the guy uses his reaction time (to pick it up off a table) and shooting skills to rate a firearm.

I wonder how he comes up with his 'knock down power' rating?

I don't think their scores should dictate a carry choice but I think using a similar criteria using personal data has some merrit.

The .38+P rates very well according to their chart. Interesting!

I am not much on his rating system for the guns. What he shoots well or doesn't shoot well has nothing to do with what I can or do shoot well or don't shoot well.

The LCP rated 637 and the SP101 rated 789, Rem 700 rated 900, but the 1911 rated 920. Go figure.

A 30/30 gets the same knock down rating as a 45 ACP or a 45 Colt.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

according to their" knock down power super duper bar graph"

    a 9mm 124gr JHP +P will knock someone down better than a 45 230 JHP...does that even sound right?

Considering that bullets don't knock people down, no.

That doesn't even sound like english!!!

Like stated above, it is all about the shooter, and having a gun to defend your life wins over not having one every time (except possibly with a .25acp {j/k}[not really]).

I still like my P345, but I admit that the LCP is a fine and reliable little gun that GOES BANG EVERY TIME, and any bullet is formidible if used properly. This is not a 3 gun match, not a steels competition, this is "If I dont shoot you, or at least try to shoot you, I am certainly going to die".

Knock down or not, any bullet is going to give an attacker something to think about. I'll take a .177 pellet over nothing at all, so, a .380 is an acceptable defense round if you can effectively deploy the firearm, just like any other tool.

I will say this though, we have helped this person get a few more hits on youtube, so, I think he has reached his goal, now, go out, practice with whatever it is you employ for self defense and meet your own... Stay allive and safe.
