If you don't mind my asking, is $500 the actual asking price for the Rossi in your neck of the woods? I was at the local Academy sporting goods store today looking at 1911's and saw several of them selling for less than $400.

Ditto on the above statement, all my LGS's have a couple lying around and they are running from like high 3's to low 4's I believe. I could see a use for this gun, albeit a fairly limited one. I backpack a lot and I'm pretty sure I could rig it so that the Ranch Hand hung from my pack and was easily accessible, I wouldn't mind having a 45LC or 44 Magnum option when I hike.

    Thumbs up

I have one. Sorry. I got to shoot it for the first time yesterday. It is amazing! My husband got it for me for Valentine's and it is the best present I have ever gotten.

I'd like to add that with little kick and virtually no recoil, it is the perfect choice for us ladies who like to shoot. My husband put a dot site on mine and every shoot on my Zombie target was a headshot. Now, where can I find a holster?

I'm amazed that folks who line up to buy this gun are the same people who will criticize someone for buying a P/G shotgun.
To me, choice is always good, and every gun isn't right for every situation. Some are just fun.

Unless there has been some bizarre ruling of which I'm not aware, the Mossberg "JIC" is a shotgun, not a pistol. It is over 26" long and has an 18", smoothbore barrel. If it were under 26" or had a barrel less than 18" long, it would be considered a Short Barrel Shotgun, and would be subject to NFA taxes and transfer restrictions. It would only get to be a pistol if the barrel were at least partially rifled, like the Taurus Judge. Simply having no shoulder stock does not make it a pistol.

We keep a 16" Lever action 357 handy at home for just that reason.

I have one. It has no purpose except to look cool and be fun to shoot. As such, it fits my criteria for a fun gun just fine!

You can even buy the holster for it on line for about $80, though I can't imagine carrying it anywhere. Still..........

Yeah, me too. Why is it there is so much garbage on tv, but the shows I like get canceled?
Not that Firefly was going to win an emmy, but it was fun to watch.

Just keep and eye on the auction sites. They are auctioning off a lot of Steve McQueen's artifacts, they'll get to his holster soon enough!
