My P3AT had teething problems with uneven reliability but I persevered and worked through it with an extensive break-in period rather than the lame "fluffing and buffiing" that is so frequently recommended. Don't really like any of the above pistols and don't see a dime's difference in them. My brother-in-law has an LCP and it gives the same function and accuracy at the range as my P3AT. The LCP is better looking than the P3AT in a relative sort of way. Both are pitifully ugly when compared with the effort put into a Colt Python's surface finish. Don't know a thing about the Taurus midget .380 offering.

I have the KelTec....wife has the LCP and daughter has a LCP. No problems out of either. Love both of them and would trust both of them.

Farronwolf, what did you have to do to get the TCP running well? Of the three I listed, I really like it, but there are a lot of horror stories on TaurusArmed.net.
Here is a the range report from when I bought it. http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulle...ort&highlight=

Basically, polished it up and changed away from GA factory reload ammo to my own reloads. I haven't run any factory range ammo through it since the first day. I will in the future, and anticipate it shooting fine with factory fresh stuff.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

P3AT when I can't carry my Bulldog. Takes a lot of range time to get used to the trigger. Functions good. It is a handful to shoot.

Check out the Smith and Wesson Bodyguard 380 also. They have lowered prices. I got one yesterday new, out-the-door for $375 and it has a built in laser!!

I have shot my LCP a lot and it has been 100% and I really like the pistol. By now all of the bugs have been worked out - as far as I know - anyway.

Take special note of post #22. At that price, I'd be looking at that closely too....

Idon't think you can go wrong with the LCP however.

I've owned two LCPs and they've both been flawless. I only sold the first one to bankroll a Sig P238, which for what its worth ran fine, and shot very soft and accurate, but was just a bit too chunky for my pocket carry tastes, so I went back to the LCP.

I've had my first gen KelTec P-3AT for many years. It has functioned perfectly, though not shot a lot (not exactly a range gun), but goes bang every time I use it.

    Cool

You may also want to look at the Diamondback .380 for comparison. I have shot the Taurus and Ruger and settled on the DB because of size, weight and recoil absorbsion.

Thanks, all. Today I bought an S&W BG 380 - $339. I'm planning to take it to the range next week.

My P-3AT has served me well for several years. I don't have any reason to try something from the new kids on the block. If I buy another ultra-compact pistol, it will be another P-3AT or maybe even a P-32.
