    Springfield Milspec Micro

Do any of you guys have experience with the Springfield Micro 1911's? I am in the market for one and I think that I would prefer the milspec just because of it utilitarian nature, meaning that I could carry without regard for it's finish being marred as my carry guns seemed to get.

The sights would not be a problem as it would wear CT grips, although I would probably ad a beavertail gs depending on how the GI safety worked for me.

Thanks....and you guys always give good feedback to questions posted.

I've had no experience with a springfield micro, but I would be weary of relying on a CT grip for proper sighting and acquisition of a target.

I saw one in person, it looks nice but was too small for my big mitts.... Otherwise it seems like a well built pistol. It doesn't have a fire pin safety plunger so I don't know if there is a fire pin stop or not. The bull barrel and FLGR look like the same setup as the Colt Defender.
There is something about firing 4,200 thirty millimeter rounds/min that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I would not be using the laser for distinguishing target as I have a flashlight for that, I would use it for verifying my point of aim.....which they do very well. I have just put them on my j-frame revolvers and I have had them on other auto pistols for a while now, in low light they make a tremendous difference in being able to put lead on the target when you have 50yr old eyes that can't easily see small sites. I practice regularly with them at the range in relative darkness as one might encounter in a self defense situation and they work great. I much prefer them to night sites as night sites can appear blurry with aging eyes. I have found them to maintain zero well and in very much dry firing, I have yet to press the button that I didn't get that reassuring red dot where it was pointed. Also, while practicing, I always practice point shooting.....as it can be the last resort.

Have a couple of Springfield Micro Compacts and they have been absolutely reliable, no hiccups at all.
