I currently EDC a Glock 19. I use either a Crossbreed Supertuck or a Pure Kustom Black Ops Pro with a A&G Custom Leather Belt. It is very comfortable BUT I was looking to get a more smaller and possibly lighter gun to use as an alternative EDC or a backup.
My father is kind enough to give me a gun. While the choices may not be ideal, it is free :image035:
Which would you choose and why?
1) S & W J frame Airweight
2) ANY S&W J frame
From your list, a Walther PPK .380. BUt I would rather you get a J Frame .357 or .38 special revolver or a Ruger LCP.
Assuming all are in good working order, I would go for the Colt DS. The PPK isn't much smaller than the G19. The .32 is sub-par in my opinion. The 9mm Mak is just too hard to come by.

I chose the detective special for a few reasons, nostalgia, caliber, and because it is a revolver.
The Detective Special, although I would recommend the third production series with the shrouded ejector rod.
Why? It shoots a round more powerful than the others, it's nearly as compact, it's American made by an iconic manufacturer, it's out of production, it's reliability is legendary, and of all the ones you listed it's the only one that could possibly be constituted an heirloom, worthy of passing on to the next generation.
Colt. .38 special is a good SD caliber, revolvers damn near always go bang, it's an old Colt.
The Dick Special.
It has the same trigger mainipulation as your Block. Besides that, it's a classic and they ain't making them anymore. Just use standard pressure ammo and you'll be fine.

I say go with the 38 spec.
I would take the Colt as well. I've got a PPK and a G19, I think the G19 might even be lighter than the PPK unloaded anyway.
.38 is a good caliber and it's a Colt Revolver.
