That's the part that kinda sucks. I've heard the new recoil spring assembly in the gen 4's makes the .40 shoot with less recoil. I also like the swappable back straps. HOWEVER given my history with auto's I'll probably end up going with the gen 3.

I would go with option 2 that's just because I am sort of partial to glocks....

I think any of those options would serve you well, indeed.

I do love a nice revolver, and I do carry one upon occasion. That being said, I personally would opt for the G27. You do what you feel serves your needs the best.

I think I've decided how to proceed. I am going to buy a 642 to give me a back up to my SP101 and it will also give me a pocket option. This will give the gen 4's a bit more time to mature and then in February I can revisit a Glock 23.

Most issues with the Gen 4s seemed to be with the 9mm models and those were mostly an easy fix. I love my Gen 3 G19 but if I were shopping for another today, I'd buy the Gen 4. The new recoil assembly doesn't feel too different in 9mm but in .40, it does to me.

Great game plan. That's what I'd do....

Sounds like a solid plan. As for the Gen 4 G23s, you should ask Ram Rod, Hot Guns, Sixto, or some of the other guys who are familiar with them or work in gun shops and deal with some of these issues. I'd place more stock in what they've seen over the stuff I read online.

I'd go with the "carry the gun that you're most confident in" situation. Can't hurt to have the Glock with a light for nightstand duty and maybe find another revolver for your BUG (have you tried the LCR yet?).
